Silly Dance

I love eccentric dancing. “Eccentric” is another word for funny.

This example has some simple lessons. The male dancer is obviously playing drunk. The odd positions of his feet give his legs a strange tension, and make him appear unbalanced, something contrary to dancers. One of the simplest methods of comedy is to appear foolish and out of control, but still be able to do amazing things. Here, the drunk can still dance better than most people.

Dancing on the ceiling

What happens when talent meets special effects. My favorite Fred Astaire moment, from the movie “Royal Wedding.”

You probably don’t need to see how this was achieved, but here it is anyway. Still fun to watch. What helps hide the illusion is the camera movement on top of the rotation.

Nathan Barnatt

Twitter led me to this video by Nathan Barnatt. He falls down funny.

Barnatt has quite a few videos on youtube. I applaud him for how hard he works. This next one is also funny. He attends an open audition for dancers. The only reason they don’t throw him out is he actually has some skills. This is how I would be at an audition.
